Documentary

Letters to Daddy is a fascinating story that resonates truth through the many interesting characters and wonderful revelations. The story that led to the creation of L2D was equally fascinating and the result of people inspired by passion and fueled with a sense of purpose to make a difference in the world. There’s been the serendipity of meeting talented songwriter Mark Shepard and arranger “Harmony” Joe Mennonna; the fate that led to Terry Odell and The Acting Out Playhouse; plus the wonder of real-life children who profoundly impacted the story and the language in the script. As we all well know, life’s sequence of events play out in their own time and the “meaning” isn’t always realized until after the fact. If only we had a camera following us around to chronicle it all.

Well, the Orange County, NY tour of Letters to Daddy: The Musical Key to Bully-Free, is doing just that. 8 Hats High, an animation and production studio in Middletown, NY is producing a documentary: “The Making of L2D,” to capture all of the behind-the-scenes action and witness the transformational effects of this revolutionary production.

The cast of L2D are ordinary children from Orange County who’ve embraced this extraordinary responsibility to bring their own truths (and often their pain) to the surface through their characters on stage, all for the benefit of others to experience. Their courage is inspiring and it’s amazing how compelling and dramatic honesty and integrity can be. There’s so much that goes on behind the curtain…you won’t want to miss any of it.
